Chocolate & Books.

Yet again the weather was perfect yesterday.
Mazo and I didn't want to be stuck in the house/library all day so we decided to grab a frappuccino and then go for a walk along the South Bank.
Everybody seemed to have the same idea - the population of London doubles when the sun comes out.

We headed to Waterloo to visit the Chocolate Festival which Jack had recommended - ironic that this was held over the hottest weekend in April EVER!
All the food looked amazing and I've come away with ideas of what to bake next.
The major problem was just how expensive everything was but it was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Before we reached the stalls we came across the famous South Bank Book Market which is held everyday during the day.
The tables piled high with books are found under Waterloo Bridge and I truly believe that you could find anything you wanted.
There were even vintage maps available which would look great in a frame. Mazo bought the DVD of 'we own the night' for £3 which we then watched last night over dinner - bargain!

Hope you all have a great Sunday. XX

The flowers outside out flat - they are taking over, but look great at the same time.

Found this guy sculpturing Shakespeare out of sand on the way to the market

Quite possibly my favourite author - not that I'm biased.

Summer Sun, Something's begun

I love love love this amazing weather London is experiencing.
DP is now back from skiing and so he came over last night for some banter with Mazo and I.
We ended up wandering around and then we went to Giraffe near Liverpool Street which was a deliciousness meal.
One of my favourite things about summertime is the long, mild nights and yesterday was just perfect.
A really nice way to round off the week spend in the library.
Here are some photos from last night.
Today there is the potential for a double post - Mazo and I are going to visit a chocolate festival near Waterloo later thanks to a recommendation from our friend Jack.

22 degrees? Yes please.

This week has been fairly uneventful - trying to find the motivation to write yet another essay but the lovely weather is far too distracting.

Although I have a good system where I spend the morning at home and then spend the afternoon/evening in the library.
Seems to be working.
I also saw my dear friend Tom last night for dinner - haven't seen him since New Year so it was really good to catch up!
The following photos are just a sum up of the week I've had so far.
Hopefully going home this weekend, once I get this essay written, so hopefully the summer weather stays.
Hope you have all had a lovely week so far. XX

Tower Bridge yesterday morning - beautiful.

The refurbished St Pancras hotel - an amazing building!

Firsts...

I ventured over to West London today to help out with a climate change workshop - it was loads of fun. Children are so smart and enthusiastic!
Yesterday I said that the weather was going to be 18 degrees today and I'm sure it was hotter. It was gorgeous.. I cycled home and while going through Hyde Park people were sunbathing and eating ice cream - it could easily have been June July!
Today I enjoyed my: first bike ride of 2011 (it has been so cold and wet), my first ice cream (magnum classic) and my first tshirt day.
I hardly ever go to West London, although it probably has some of the most famous London landmarks. I took some pictures as I cycled home so you can have a look at how beautiful the weather was. I love the Spring transition.
Hope you all had a lovely midweek day. XX

I'm walking on sunshine...

Today was the first day of 2011 that I didn't need to wear a coat AND I wore flip flops.
I've been waiting for this for so long.
The weather was stunning and I took some photos around where I live just to show you.
Hope you all had a lovely Monday. XX
