Hummingbird

Tuesday evening was spent baking, which I haven't done in ages. 

I had forgotten how much I love turning on the radio and just getting lost in a mountain of flour and icing.

Although, my baking drought really showed - I attempted to follow a red velvet cupcake recipe from The Hummingbird Bakery, however they came out more as a chocolate sponge rather than being shocking red.
They tasted nice anyway, so I suppose it doesn't matter. 

I topped the sponge with a vanilla buttercream which I turned a very pale shade of pink.

Anyone tried any new cake recipes lately?
